Live Music for September 2023
RoC (Roots of Creation) has taken on a unique new project: Grateful Dub: a Reggae-infused tribute to the Jerry Garcia & The Grateful Dead. Combining their longtime love for Reggae-Dub style music and the Grateful Dead, RoC reworked some of the world’s favorite Dead tunes into a new studio album. Hey Now! Welcome to the online studio of DeadBeat, a jam band that brings alive the sound and style of the Grateful Dead, The Jerry Garcia Band & all of the music that Dead Heads love to hear! Performing in Greater Boston, Metro West and Southern New Hampshire since 2005, Deadbeat delivers an upbeat vibe that will keep you on your feet and dancing all night! Night time only tickets for DeadBeat available.
DeadBeat is 6 pieces (Drums, Bass, Keyboards, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar & Vocalist) consisting of seasoned musicians each with 3+ decades of experience & with national and international gigging and recording credentials. We have a groovin’ dance vibe with a rock edge and feature strong 3 part vocal harmony and instrumental soloists. We perform the original music of the Grateful Dead and it’s family of bands, as well as music as covered by those groups.
The band was formed in 2005 when drummer Joe Pulitano answered a Craig’s List ad and joined former members of the Tinmen Brian Stormwind & Gary Barth to form a new band that focused on their mutual love of the music of The Grateful Dead and the Jam Band sound and experience. The newly formed DeadBeat played their first gig in late 2005. Feeling that the lineup worked well, they took early 2006 to focus on developing their sound, learning and growing together, and working towards their expressed goal of being a “live” act and fulfill their desire to share their music by playing out as much as possible. By the fall of 2006 the band had jelled, and regular gigging followed.
From backyard BBQs in Southern California beach towns to its rise as one of the most popular reggae rock bands in the country, Fortunate Youth remains devoted to its roots and a simple mission: Spread peace, love, and unity with music. It’s a mantra of sorts for the multi-faceted sextet from Hermosa Beach, driving a relentless thirst for live performances and an ever-evolving cache of original material dotted with influences of blues, ska, rock, world, soul, and punk. Mighty Mystic will be performing on the outdoor stage among the cannabis exhibitors for open consumption on Saturday Afternoon. Mighty Mystic is considered as one of the leaders in the U.S. Reggae scene and labeled by many as one of the more prolific artists to develop outside of Jamaica. He has gripped the scene with ferocious conviction and an uncanny ambition worthy to be mentioned among the greats. He has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a contributor to the art. Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song “Riding on the Clouds.” However, it wasn’t until the release of his first album “Wake up the World” (2010) that he became a household name. “Wake up the World” boasted several standouts, such as “Revolution,” “Riding on the Clouds,” “Original Love,” and “Slipped Away” with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah. Mystic continues to wake up the world with his high energy, message driven brand of reggae music which he emphatically calls “HARD ROOTS.” It is this unique spin on classic reggae blended with Hip Hop & Rock that has catapulted him to the forefront of today’s Reggae Revival. Mighty Mystic is also the younger brother of current Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. When asked, does being the brother of Prime Minister Holness have any impact on your music? Mystic simply says “Andrew has a job to do and so do I, impact or not we both have our own mission to complete”. DJ Slim is a Marijuana Music Activist from Dorchester Mass. Her latest album, UNBOTHERED was released independently in October 2021 to popular and critical
acclaim. This album is joy incarnate. What it feels like, what it sounds like, what it looks like, who it’s for,
and, most importantly, how to find and make joy a reality in this life even when presented with so much
constant sorrow. This album is Oompa expanding as a human and as an artist. Free of boxes, free of
