Uncle Sam Says “I Want You” to Attend The HighLifeStyle Show

Uncle Sam says I want you... to attend The HighLifeStyle Show

Upcoming industry events such as The HighLifeStyle Show are a good way to gain know-how, find new suppliers, and network with others in the industry. Best of all, Uncle Sam – in the form of our tax laws – is willing to pick-up the expense of attending and meeting potential and current clients the event… at least for some.

Many entrepreneurs attend industry trade shows, conferences, and seminars to support their businesses. These events allow business owners to network with other entrepreneurs, vendors, and industry leaders, as well as stay on top of the latest technology and innovation in their respective fields. These events have a price tag, but it is important to remember that if the event you attend serves a legitimate purpose, its cost may be deductible come tax time.

The cost of attending a trade show, seminar, or other business convention may be deductible as a business expense.
In order to deduct the cost of attendance, meals, and hotel, you must be able to show that the event was directly related to your business. This means that the event must have had a specific purpose in furthering your business interests.

The cost of traveling to and from a business convention may also be deductible. This includes the cost of airfare, hotel accommodations, and any other expenses related to traveling to the event.

Keep in mind that only the costs of attending a business-related event may be deducted.

Are registration and lodging expenses I incur attending a convention, seminar, or trade show deductible?

  • The registration and lodging expenses you incur attending a convention, seminar, or trade show are generally 100% deductible as long as the event you attend provides, maintains, or improves the skills related to your trade or business. Keep in mind, however, that conferences you attend for political, investment or personal purposes are not deductible expenses.

Are transportation taxes deductible?

  • If you travel to a conference in the U.S., your transportation (airfare or car), meals (50%), single hotel room and other business expenses incurred at your conference would generally be considered deductible. If you take a personal trip and happened to attend a conference or event while away, you can only deduct the conference fee and other business-related expenses you incurred while at your destination.

Can I deduct my travel or convention costs if I travel with my family?

  • If you travel with your spouse, relative, or friend on business or to a convention you may not deduct any portion of their travel or convention costs – unless they are your employee, partner, professional advisor, customer, or other party who joined you for a legitimate business purpose.

*Be sure to consult your professional tax return preparer to get the most out of your visit or exhibitor space at the The HighLifeStyle Show.  Keep all your convention, travel, and meal receipts and good records on your days activities.

Offering exhibitors and vendors a fun environment to meet qualified customers who are interested in canna related products, services and creative arts. There will be no THC products for sale on property.
